2000 Vision to Build a Branch Church
Wismer Baptist Church was the branch church of Bridle Trail Baptist Church. In the year 2000, grace was bestowed on the church. The number of people meeting in the mother church was increasing. The seats were insufficient. There were shortage in children and Sunday School classrooms. There were parking problems and other issues. The deacon board and church pastors deeply felt that the church site was limited in space, difficult to have room for expansion. With active discussions among all parties and collaboration with brothers and sisters in calling upon the mind of God, it was decided to establish a church building committee to build a branch church.
2003 Sunday Services in High School, Bought land in Wismer
In 2003, a high school was rented for Sunday worship and Sunday School. There were 75 brothers and sisters who volunteered to plant the branch church. In the same year, God helped us to buy a piece of land in the Wismer community as our church site. So the plan was started with fund raising, construction and other matters.
2008 First Worship at New Church Site
Thank God, we have been selected to take charge of the responsibility to build God’s temple, to complete the work entrusted in one accord. Jehovah God has done great things for us. God has been leading in front of us and overcome all difficulties for us. After more than 5 years of wandering days, the first worship was held at the new church site on October 19, 2008. Let the glory and praise be attributed to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
At the time, total number of people worshipping in three congregations was about 300: namely, 130 in Cantonese congregation, 80 in Mandarin congregation, 40 in English congregation and 50 in children ministry. Six fellowships across all congregations are formed. Thank God for warm fellowships that strengthen interaction and care in the group.
2008 First Baptism at New Church Site
The first baptismal service at the new church was held on December 15, 2008. 17 brothers and sisters were baptized, joining God’s family together, enjoying the Lord’s grace.
2009 Entrance Ceremony
Thank God, the establishment of the new church site was God’s mercy and blessings. The church was also a product of praying in one heart. “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). The entrance ceremony was also held on May 10, 2009. Since entering the new church, we feel God’s infinite grace and countless blessings.
2015 WBC becomes Self-Reliance
In early 2014, deacon board in the mother church (Bridle Trail Baptist Church) established the “Wismer Baptist Church Autonomy Planning Committee” to dedicate for the preparation, planning and discussion of the process of autonomy and follow-up matters. Under the leadership of God, the church became self-reliance in January 2015. Eight brothers and sisters were elected to form the first deacon board of Wismer Baptist Church. 372 brothers and sisters were successfully transferred to be the first batch of members of Wismer Baptist Church.
